ÄGYPTISCHE MUSEUM GUIDED TOUR
Ägyptisches Museum and Papyrus Collection – A Journey into the Past
The Neues Museum houses one of the world's most important collections of pharaonic advanced civilisation. The more than 1,800 exhibits of the Ägyptisches Museum and Papyrussammlung exert an irresistible pull drawing the visitors back into the everyday life of this era. ARIADNE will guide you into a legendary world on a time travel to ancient Egypt.
Everyday Life, Afterlife and Gods Cult of the Ancient Egyptians
The focus of the collection is on the venerable Queen Nefertiti. »The beautiful one has come« is the translation of her name initiated by her husband. In fact, her more than 3,300-year-old bust came back to the Neues Museum after a long odyssey in 2009. Because of the war, the building had been closed for a long time and the sculpture was evacuated. With ARIADNE, you will learn more about the most fascinating woman of Berlin, her family, and the groundbreaking religious changes accompanying her lifetime.
ARIADNE will introduce you to the ancient Egyptians’ religion, acquaint you with the death cult and take you on the trail of the tempting Gold Treasure of Queen Amanishakheto. In addition to stone sarcophagi and mummies of ancient tombs weighing several tons, ARIADNE will be presenting statues and the special features of filigree portable objects of art.
Papyrussammlung (the Papyrus Collection) of Neues Museum is worldwide one of the five largest collections of its kind. Sensitive papyri, precious parchments and painted textiles provide insights into four millennia of human history. Writings in hieroglyphics, Coptic, Aramaic, Arabic, Greek, and Latin do not only tell of everyday events but also of the medical findings and religious and political views of that time. An experienced Egyptologist will reveal the Library of Antiquity to you.
Ägyptisches Museum: An Individual Culture Experience with ARIADNE
On a guided tour with ARIADNE, the ancient Egyptian and Nubian civilizations will come to life again in Neues Museum. Thus, the completely reconstructed offering chambers of ancient Egyptian tombs make the contemporary rituals accessible to today's visitors.
