MUSEUM ISLAND GUIDED TOUR

Museum Island – A Place Full of History

Right in the centre of Berlin, on Spreeinsel, lies the UNESCO World Heritage Site Museum Island. Within the course of 100 years, a museum complex was built on just under one square kilometre. The five historical buildings, with their collections, invite to a journey through 40,000 years of cultural history – from prehistory to ancient times to the late 19th century. Each museum stands by itself, yet all together they form a harmonious unity. Already from the outside, the beholder has an unforgettable view. With ARIADNE, you will go on an architectural search for traces discovering the fascinating history of Museum Island with a professional guide.

Master plan Museum Island: Creating Connections

Today, Museum Island is home to nine internationally outstanding collections on the history of art and culture in Europe and the Middle East and North Africa. In the future, the extra-European collections will find their new home in the nearby Humboldt Forum at Berliner Schloss (Berlin Palace), which was destroyed in 1950/51. In addition, the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Pergamonmuseum and the Bode-Museum will be perceptible even more as a museum complex in the future. It is planned to connect four of the five museums spatially and thematically with the James-Simon-Gallery.

Impressive tour on Museum Island

ARIADNE will also visit two of the five museum buildings with you presenting their collection highlights. Choose for yourself whether you would like to get to know the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Pergamonmuseum or the Bode-Museum in more detail.

ARIADNE will introduce you to the world of ancient Romans and Greeks, Egyptians or Mesopotamians. Our experts are flexible when it comes to your personal interests and needs – so the walk will become a beautiful and lasting memory both for adults and children.
